Weird Science II: The Temp [MILD NUDITY]
Just thought I would pop in and post something new. It's been a while.
A new hair style for a new image I am making, it calls for lots of detail and bags of patience to create. I am extruding lots of hair groups by hand, it time consuming but the final results are pretty rewarding. More to come.
Screen Grab
Photo reference one of several I am using, they are very handy to work with as the view the hair from lots of angles.
Any crit or comments much appreciated. To help me achieve a realistic look.
Cheers
Lee

Re: Weird Science II: The Temp
Thanks Cem, this hair model has been intense so far.
For anyone interested, it has over 80 seperate extrusions with about 3-4 refinements (segments each) (This took about 4 hours straight but well worth it) The great thing is it's all on one mesh scalp but has 3 seperate Generate modifiers with their own styles. I use 3 seperate growth maps for different dye colours in the hair.
Early days yet but I got most of the hard work done, I jsut need to tidy up and fill in gaps, add individual detail strands, then get the ponytail done with fuzz and bits. Hair-Farm has been rock solid on this one.
More to come..

Very nice. I like the way it has seperate strands that are fairly defined. Looking forward to a final on this.

Re: Weird Science II: The Temp
Next update:
It took me literally about 1 minute to create the ponytail! I quick trick with H&F to create the guides (because I am lazy I could have done it by hand) then made a sphere for Hair-Farm and used the Extrude modifier to create the lovely wisp guides in polygon tube form to then convert to a HairMesh Edit. Hair-Farm blows my mind. So many new things to learn each time I play with it.
A beauty render to come soon a comp between LW and Max.
Thanks for the comments and feedback guys.

Re: Weird Science II: The Temp
It looks absolutely great!
There are two things I noticed:
- I see a lot of holes and empty areas in between hair clumps (separate extrusions). Are you going to add some strands there?
- Not all clumps go towards the ponytail. Some of them end up a little above the ponytail. As a result the ponytail doesn't seem like an extension of those strands.

Hey Cem,
Thanks for the feedback, very helpful. I want to try and get this as real as I can, so those tips are very handy. I didn't notice that about the hair not meeting the poytail clump! so thanks. Also I will fill those areas in with some random strands.
Here's a quick comp for now, it's very blurry and fuzzy as it's a quick test render from LW:
(The scene is unfinished and still wip)
Blonde and a quick dark hair version test!

Whoa -- superb work as always Lee. A lot of work to be sure, but these details really pay off. Really nice techniques.

Re: Weird Science II: The Temp
pitiwazou, 3DTutorial - Thanks guys.
Here's a newer update, slightly better quality although not great (it takes ages to render this scene in LW - 6 GI bounces is why)
More refinement to come based on Cem's sugesstions.
Cem if this image is not appropriate here just let me know, I can crop it or remove it. You know what I am like I just can't help myself. She will be fully clothed this time when I am done, promise

Re: Weird Science II: The Temp (MILD NUDITY)
I renamed the topic, instead of your "NSFW" warning I wrote "MILD NUDITY," which should be enough for now. I'll try to modify the forum code when I get a chance such that topics with nudity can be better identified somehow.

Infinite- I hate how much time you have to do these awesome things as I have so little.
Great work!

Thanks Cem.
pluMmet: Well I sacrifice allot. More than I should. Plus I work from home and for myself which helps. It's the main reason I left full time employment as I had no time to do these kinds of things! Thanks for commenting

+1 I put in 95 hours last week. I want so much to take time to explore Hairfarm. The sad part is I have been spending time babysitting hair-fur projects.
Damn, when will these be available for commercial use?
