furry critter

Post by davemcd »

Greetings all,

A few weeks back I did some prelim fur tests for a pitch that we didnt end up winning in the end. Anyhow I thought I'd post them here for everyone to take a look at. All the fur was done in a night (after only using hairfarm for a few hours to test previosuly)

It was super fast to render, 4.5 million hairs (3 million in very short face fur and 1.5 in body hair). Rendered with vray, with some basic SSS2 shader work, more to test the render hit and pipeline than look.

Its all very dark and backlit as the creative was to be dark areas and I wanted to make sure hairfarm would rim light nicely. I had heaps of fun using hairfarm and had very few problems or stresses with it, I just found it super easy to use and figure out.

Cheers

Cheers Cem

I think putting some rim lighting in was close to the first thing I did with hairfarm as it was one of my biggest concerns. It worked straight away, made me happy, and I moved on ;)

Cheers,

Well the job hasn't gone ahead so not sure about animating it, maybe eventually if I get round to rigging it. I actually have some toony polar bears from an unfinished short i started years ago that I was thinking of resurecting as they are much closer to useable.
